O piosence

This letter was written in the last carriage of the first train north in a year. His mother drives it. At the station she climbed down from the cab, walked back through the whole train and laid her coat over him, sure he was asleep. He was not. He counts the lamps down to Northgate and writes to her, and on every bend, when the train leans, he can see her lamp at the front.

Night 20. The first train in a year came up the line at dusk, slowly, because the rails are still thawing. I lit lamps forty to one ahead of it. On the long bend below the hill I could see the whole train at once: one lit cab, eight dark carriages, one small light in the last window. Lamp 20 is lit.

Play it on a night train, or send it to the person who always drove you home. Tell us your city in the comments, and Lampwright will see your light.
